Trained in Righteousness
“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” – 2 Timothy 3:16-17
A carpenter learns their trade from a master craftsman. They spend years as an apprentice before they become a “tradesman.” However, without the proper training or tools to work with, they are not equipped to build anything—they are, simply put, not a carpenter.
Likewise, a follower of Christ is trained in righteousness and is “equipped for every good work” through the instruction of the Scriptures; “which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus” (2 Tim. 3:15).
Therefore, when the Church and its leadership stop teaching and preaching the Word of God—and insist on telling the masses what their “itching ears” want to hear—we render the body of Christ impotent and ill-equipped to live and reflect the true righteousness of God. Just like the untrained carpenter without tools; these “believers” are, simply put, not Christ-like.
Its time to recalibrate our focus and to become faithful to the Scriptures and to sound doctrine—to teach, rebuke, correct, and to be trained in righteousness.
May we become servants of God that are thoroughly equipped to reflect the righteousness of Christ that has been given to us through his sacrifice on Calvary.
In Christ,
Pastor Ken
