Thirsting for More of God

“You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you;
I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you,
in a dry and parched land where there is no water.”

– Psalm 63:1

Any decent survival guide will tell you about the “Survival Rule of 3’s.” In any extreme situation, you cannot survive for more than 3 minutes without air; 3 hours without shelter; 3 days without water; and 3 weeks without food. When we lack any of these basic physical requirements, our God-given physiological survival instinct goes into high gear—just try holding your breath for 60 seconds.

In the natural, God has given us everything we need to survive. The Lord gives us the instinct for hunger and thirst, and then provides us with water from the sky and grain from the ground. In other words, both our thirst, and the water to quench it, comes from God.

The same is true in our Spiritual lives. Only God can satisfy the deep longing in our hearts to know Him and be known by Him. Interestingly enough, God also created us with that very longing.

If you are hungering and thirsting for God’s presence today, just know that your longing comes from the Holy Spirit—who has every intention of satisfying your every Spiritual need in Christ.

Christ is our hunger and the Bread of Life; our thirst and the Living Water. Earnestly seek him today, and be satisfied!

In Christ,
Pastor Ken
